Home Sweet Quarantine Home

We arrived home Monday April 6th. Crossing the border was easy (no one crossing except trucks), however the border officer collected our personal information to forward to Health Canada so they can follow up with us as we are in quarantine for 14 days. A big shout out and thank you to our neighbours Bill and Julie who will be dropping off groceries for us. When we arrived home we found some food and drinks already in our fridge. We said goodbye to Sun Spirit until next January. She is covered and put to bed for the summer. Some interesting observations from the drive home: As we crossed the state line from Florida to Georgia on the I-95 we saw that all southbound cars entering Florida were being stopped and being asked if entry into Florida was essential. The trucks were not stopped and were able to drive through in a different lane. All the states that we travelled through had signs posted on the highway suggesting that everyone stay home. On The “Hard”

On the hard is just a fancy way of saying the boat is out of the water and on land. We were scheduled to come out on Monday April 6, but on Thursday evening the governor of Florida ordered all non-essential businesses to close down at midnight. Since we couldn’t tell if this included marinas we decided to take no chances and were able to get a lift out the next day. Whew! The sail is out but only because we had to take the sails down: Sun Spirit is lifted and moved to her summer home.  Down the road we go: Into the boat yard: Our view from the stern: The interesting thing is that you are allowed to stay on your boat for a couple of days while it is on the hard. We have water, the propane stove and power from the solar panels so it is more or less comfortable staying on-board.
