On The “Hard”
On the hard is just a fancy way of saying the boat is out of the water and on land. We were scheduled to come out on Monday April 6, but on Thursday evening the governor of Florida ordered all non-essential businesses to close down at midnight. Since we couldn’t tell if this included marinas we decided to take no chances and were able to get a lift out the next day. Whew!

The interesting thing is that you are allowed to stay on your boat for a couple of days while it is on the hard. We have water, the propane stove and power from the solar panels so it is more or less comfortable staying on-board.
Life in the boat yard (that’s Gunter barbecuing dinner):
Today we started putting stuff away, packing the car and started putting on the summer cover. We also started placing tin foil on all the hatches/windows to reflect sun away from the interior:
When it gets cooler later this evening we will take down the Bimini and dodger (beige canvas), finish covering her up and (fingers crossed) leave around noon Sunday. Next stop - home.
