Green Turtle Cay

We left Treasure Cay on Saturday - what a difference a day makes - on Friday it poured rain hard all day and by Saturday it was beautiful again. There is a large area in the Sea of Abaco that is extremely shallow with shifting sands, so you have to go out into the Atlantic Ocean and then come back in again where the depth increases. This requires travelling through the Whale passage, a cut between an island and barrier reefs, which can be horrible when the wind and tide are in opposite directions. We had a good, somewhat rolly passage thanks to pre-planning by Captain Steve!

Green Turtle Cay is a nice protected island with good mooring balls available. We took one and then realized it was in a location too shallow for us so we moved to another further out and right next to Gaya. Our view:

First order of business was to dingy to the town New Plymouth for some groceries.  The town is very charming and is recovering nicely from Dorian.

Roosters and cats wander freely. Did I mention the roosters crow all the time?

A full moon on our first night.

What a way to spend Easter Sunday - The Green Turtle Yacht  Club has a pool that boaters are welcome to use.

For Easter dinner we went to The Tranquil Turtle restaurant on a lovely beach - part of The Bluff House Resort - and again anyone can use the beach.

Not your traditional Easter!

Today we rented a golf cart to explore more of the island.

Random dog came to the beach to cool off and join us on a beach walk.

A rainstorm forced us to stop for lunch at the Tranquil Turtle again! End of the day ride:

Sundowners!
