Staying Put
We can’t believe we have been anchored here for 2 weeks, but as I’ve said before weather dictates everything. As it is calming down and the wind is shifting, we are planning to leave on Wednesday and head to Long Island next.
Guessing there used to be a Scotiabank here in town?
Here we are in the dingy leaving town and prepared for a wet ride across the bay - Gunter got soaked- the waves were pounding on his side of the dingy.
On Saturday morning, the cruiser community held an event called “Treasures of the Bilge” which was essentially a garage sale with most of the stuff free to a good home. I managed to offload about a dozen books and picked up another bunch and Gunter snagged an extension for our power cord - only needed in marinas but nice to have.
The guys got invited to go fishing the same day while Lise took me to a local snorkelling spot.
One of the Snappers - so fresh and yummy.
As a contrast, here is our grandson ice fishing at home.
One of the trails on the island is an Art Walk where people use their creativity to add unique pieces.
Yet another shelter to rest and sit in the shade.
Today was International Cruiser’s Kids Olympics (day 2 of 3) held on the beach of the Chat ‘n Chill restaurant and bar. Organized by parents and other adults in recognition of the real Olympics happening now - mind you in a different climate! The events we watched were the jerry can relay, bury the stick in sand and paddle boarding around a buoy.
The kids had a great time! We also saw sting rays at the beach and the resident cat just chilling in midst of all the excitement. Maybe he could be our boat cat?!
Update - Wednesday:
Steve and Lise left this morning for Long Island will be back on Saturday as there is another front coming through on the weekend. We decided to stay here and move on when we can stay somewhere longer.
I finally figured out this George Town thing. Once people get here their boat becomes their cottage and they just stay for the season. Not a bad thing……
