Cambridge Cay

On Saturday Jan 15 we left Warderick Wells and arrived in Cambridge Cay in a couple of hours. This is the southern end of the Land & Sea park and once again we were able to tie up to a mooring ball. It was so calm with no wind, a perfect today to swim, snorkel, hand wash laundry and make water.

All the cruisers were invited for sundowners on the beach and we got to meet the people in the boats around us. A few of them had sold everything they owned and are now living on their boat year round. Others were like us - here for the winter and back home in the spring. The next day we took the dingys back to the beach and had a long walk on the island ,

The waves were crashing on the other side of the island.

The sad part was seeing the amount of plastic and fishing gear that had washed up to shore. Sometimes we would see piles of the stuff that people had made to keep it from washing back out again - a never ending battle.
That night we finished the fish, purchased at Allen’s Cay, with Steve and Lise and returned to our boat just in time before the rain came pouring down with incredible lightening and thunder - what a show!
On Monday we watched a sea plane land between boats and realized we are right next to Bell Island  owned by Aga Kahn - you may remember the time the Trudeaus visited…… On the other side is an island owned by Johnny Depp but we didn’t see and pirates so figured he wasn’t there.
Before we left this morning, Lise got this nice shot of our boat in the sunrise.
Today we arrived in Big Major Cay but more about that in the next posting.
